Future of Navy Drones

To replace manned fighter planes, the Navy is creating an unmanned aircraft system. The MQ-25A Stingray is a multi-purpose unmanned aerial system that carries refueling systems under its wing. These drones will relieve manned F/A-18 fighters of tanker duties, indirectly boosting carrier air wing striking power. The future of these unmanned aircraft is not certain.

MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aircraft System

The Navy plans to deploy two MQ-4C Tritons to Guam by the end of 2018, which will expand the force's reach in the Western Pacific. The original announcement was made in April 2018. However, the Navy had to halt operations due to the September 2018 crash of the first Triton. The program is expected to begin flying again in 2019.

Blue Water Maritime Logistics UAS concept

The US Navy awarded the 2019 Other Transaction Authority Award to Skyways, based in Austin, Texas. It was for their Blue Water Maritime Logistics UAS. The aircraft's folding wings can be folded away before it takes off, and before it lands. This will provide better storage and handling capabilities. Skyways defeated Boeing in the final round. The drone's unique design has attracted industry attention and could soon be part of the future Navy fleet.

MQ-25A Stingray

The MQ-25A Stingray prototype Navy tanker is currently in production and will be operational by 2025. Because it is horizontally shaped and has a round wing-body configuration, enemy radar detection is reduced. Its ability land at sea, and high survivability make it a better choice than fixed-wing tanksers for long-range missions.

MQ-8Bs and Cs

The MQ-8B & C are navy-drones. They are equipped with anti-submarine warfare equipment and can perform large-area multistatic acoustic searches. The Navy plans to replace its MQ-8C, which was tested at sea aboard the USS Anchorage. The MQ-8C's airframe is built on a Bell 407 commercial aircraft. It retains the majority of the B version’s avionics. It can land on any aircraft-capable ship, even unprepared areas. The MQ-8C has a new radar. The new aircraft should be ready for deployment by the summer.

It has been amazing to see the Navy's progress with its laser weapon systems. The Navy is already more than half way to its goal, having increased from 30 kilowatts of power in 2014 to 150 in 2020. The all-electric weapon will not require propellants or ammunition, and will be operational for as long as the ship has power. The electric laser weapon offers many advantages over chemical laser weapons in the past.

How can I clean my drone?

These are some of the things you need to know before cleaning your drone. This guide will show you how to get every bit of your drone's potential.

  1. Make sure you have the right tools. Make sure that you have all the tools you need before you begin anything. You will need a soft toothbrush (or a brush) and a cleaning product (we recommend WD40).
